Mallipoo story...

Right now this beautiful painting by Kalyani Ganapathy called Ponnuku Mallipoo Asai translated 'A little girl likes jasmine flowers' adorns the orange wall in my daughter's room.

The story~
Last year when I featured Kalyani's work here, I fell in love with this little girl called Mayuri in the painting, she so needed to be in my daughter's room. We were in the process of moving to our new home and I had already visualised how the painting would look in my daughter's room. Kalyani has used acrylic on canvas and has really made the little girl come to life:-)

Will post more pictures from my daughter's room, which still is work in progress.

Do visit Kalyani's site Surfkye, to see some of her gorgeous work.

beautiful painting... somehow this painting by Kalyani reminded me of the poem/nursery rhyme in Tamil :
Nila Nila odi va,
Nilammal odi va,
Malia medhu yeri va,
Maligai pu kondu va.

You have placed it so well in her room!

BEAUTIFUL ! Would love to see the finished room .. I am also in the process of re-vamping my son's room ; but I have a one tough cookie for a 3-yr-old-customer .... any painting or wall art has to be of something -on-wheels !!

That is one of my fav pics from SurfKye Archana. 'Ponnuku Mallipoo Asai' - is that Tamil? It's sounds pretty similar to Tulu which is spoken a lot in Mangalore, where I come from!

What I love abt this pic is that she has brought out the image of the "little south indian girl" so well!

Kalyani's work is really cool. There are so many things to like about this painting- the mallipoo, the beautiful brown skin of the girl, and the colours.
