Bungalow 8

The name of an unusual home accessories store which is situated in an unconventional location beneath the benches of the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India.
The store's philosophy of juxtaposing contemporary blockprinted linens in Art Deco cupboards, sleek Jaisalmer bathroom accessories on vintage basins is extremely interesting.Bungalow 8 is a store where you'll find an eclectic, traditional & rare mix of furniture & fashion hand picked from India and from all over the world.
The store was set up by Maithili Ahluwalia in 2003 in an unconventional location of a bylane in a residential area and started the minimilist trend. Today she has won many accolades both in India as well as internationally.

This is what i call serentipity! For the past couple of weeks I have been passing by the road that has a discreet sign 'Bunglow8' and I've been wondering what's in it. I had a vague idea its a decor place. And you write about it! Thanx so much. It looks completely elegant.

It appears as though all these designers and trend setters from various parts of the world come together and decide on the theme of interior designing and the way it should be presented to the world. Asian theme, minimalist decor and old stuff mixed with new seems to be the trend all over. If you ever visit the store Anthropologie or many other like these there seems to be this common theme....a mix of something old and something new.

vinita- Interesting observation:-)
Probably 'Bungalow 8' is also part of the growing global trend of Asian, minimalist and eclectic mix of old & new.
I am quite liking this trend :-)

This store has a vibe very similar to upscale interior stores in downtown manhattan. when the screen came up I was wondering has rang-decor changed its theme? NY has high prized clubs/bars by this name - all with great aesthetics.

Dinu- Thanks for dropping by:-)

I am aware of 'Bungalow 8' being the name of a well known bar in NYC:-)

No, Rang Decor hasn't changed it's theme;-) it brings interior ideas from India, be it traditional or contemporary:-)
