collective craft.

When I received a mail from Shweta Mohapatra of collective craft, I must admit I was completely blown away by the delicate designs on stone. I believe the products really are 'poetry in stone'.

collective craft is the brainchild of Sibanand Bhol an architect from the SPA ~School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and Shweta Mohapatra an animation film designer from NID, Ahmedabad.

Shweta and Sibanand work with artisans who have been involved in the age-old traditional stone art form of Odisha where soft soap stone is used for carving figurative forms.

The collaborative currently works towards securing rural livelihoods by generating work opportunities for artisans through interventions and innovation in design and technical processes.

    Gorgeous, gorgeous work! loved their logo as well! Beautiful pendents, only made me wonder if they get heavy on the neck.
    But such classy work, very covetable.

    Hey vineeta , thanks so much, the pendants are as heavy as any other stone jewelry ( jade, topaz...etc) this is a very porous soft stone, not heavy at all. They are also stocked at people tree in Delhi

    Hey Vineeta, thank you so much. The pendants are as heavy as any other stone jewelry ( jade, topaz...etc) . The stone is a porous, soft stone...not heavy at all. The jewelry is also stocked at people tree Delhi.

    Beautiful art. Similar soap stone art is found in Mahabalipuram. those pendents are sold for peanuts..

    amazing work...i do have a few pendants made of marble which i picked up from street shopping in mahabalipuram however they are quite heavy.....
