The Red River

I was introduced to The Red River , an organization based in North East India by Kakoli Das (one of the founders) a few weeks back and I loved their home and lifestyle products.

The Red River acts as a medium between the weavers from the North East and the markets, that will help them with sustainable income.

Have a look at some of their amazing collections of cushions~
These designs have been inspired by the weaving patterns of river bank settler community - the Misings (or the Miris)

    Lovely, well done Kakoli! Thanks for sharing Arch...the cushions are lovely, I especially like the ones with frills (reminds me of a very traditional home-made cushion/pillow design in Bengali households), the weaves are pretty as well. I'm hopping over right now.....

    Dithi is right!!....this frills(jhalore lagano hath-pakha) were very much a part of traditional Bong culture...

    Thanks for sharing this. Kakoli is doing a great job. One of my aunt's (Deepa Ghose) is doing the same work. She works with the craftsmen who do hand embroidery(zardosi)in chandni chawk and sells their products. Her NGO has won many accolades for the work she is doing. Let me know if you want to feature her on your blog.
