Wishing all you lovely blogger friends a very happy and bright Diwali! The 'Festival of Light' where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being.
Sorry for the late post, have just about found some quiet time to sit down and assimilate all the festivity around me:-) Today I am going to share the festivities in our home....Welcome!
A simple rangoli made with white poster colours greet you at our doorstep. My favourite Frangipani flowers in terracotta bowl.
Traditional brass peacock lamps at the entrance.
Tealight candles in 'Chai' glasses add light and festivity to our dining table which is dressed in it's colourful best;-) Also seen here are some traditional Indian Sweets.
Flowers & candles...what more can you ask for:-)

ReplyDeleteMonica- Yes, the white design at the doorstep has been handpainted by me..it's called 'Rangoli/Kolam/Alpana'it's believed to bring in prosperity & happiness and traditionally rice flour is used...but I have used poster colours here:-)
If my daughter (Indigo blue) ever visits India, I will be sure to tag along. Your photos are beautiful So full of warmth and colour. Belated Happy Diwali to you and your family..

ReplyDeleteI found your blog totally by accident today and what a find it is! I am from Mysore/Bangalore area but left India 26 years ago with my parents. Your photos made me feel so nostalgic and home sick! I visit India every year or every two years and I can't get enough of it. I also celebrate all Indian festivals here in US and I love decorating! I collect pottery and masks from around the world and can't get enough of Indian art either. Your photos are awesome and so inspiring! I do rangoli by hand for all festivals too but your idea is great and hope you don't mind me stealing the idea for my home. I used to paint with poster colors back in India but would acrylic paints work on concrete porch we have here? I have so much to share and comment on your site...next time! Keep up your great blog and inspire us!
